Your Serve or Mine?

In 1971, a group of American table tennis players made history by traveling to China. The first Americans to legally visit in more than 20 years, they opened lines of communication that remain vital today. The people-to-people links they established are being carried on by American and Chinese college students. Your Serve or Mine premiered on PBS stations across the United States in May 2025 as part of special Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month programming, and was also available on the free PBS App.
Bill Einreinhofer is the producer and director of the film. A three-time Emmy Award-winning television producer, director, and writer with over 40 years of international filmmaking experience, he serves as Chair Emeritus of the Broadcast Journalism department at the New York Film Academy.
Ziheng(Helen) Wang is the producer of this film. She is a producer and creative director dedicated to storytelling that bridges cultures and perspectives. Blending strategic vision with implementation, she had led cross-border production for PBS-featured works and consulted for leading entertainment brands.
Artist Spotlight: Composer and Pianist Steve Barakatt

Award-winning composer and pianist Steve Barakatt returned to China in April for his third national tour, reaffirming a meaningful artistic relationship with Chinese audiences established over more than three decades.
The tour commenced with a special ceremony on April 6 at the Shanghai Dragon Modern Art Centre and continued across six major cities: Shenzhen on April 10, Kunming on April 12, Haikou on April 14, Beijing on April 16, Jinan on April 17, and Shanghai on April 19.
“Returning to China for my third national tour is deeply meaningful to me. China has played an important role in my artistic journey for many years, and I have always felt a genuine connection with its audiences. Through this new tour, I look forward once again to sharing music that speaks to emotion, imagination, and our shared humanity beyond borders,” said Steve Barakatt.
